Langley, Virginia – CIA HQ – 04:08
“Listen up, Hunter,” said Overlord, “We are asked to drop everything we’re doing right now and look at the national security. Langley’s got a problem.”
“At seventeen hundred hours the Paris was attacked by an unknown number of terrorists.” Overlord continued, “Al Bashir took the responsibility of the attack and said that his men is attacking different countries simultaneously.”
“Is it a bluff?” Hunter One asked.
“We’re not counting on that. The intel you got from your last op told us that the Russians are selling warheads on Al Bashir. This bastard is in possession of an unaccounted number of nuclear warheads possibly armed in places that we don’t know.”
“That’s not good,” Hunter Two said.
“Since there are no attacks from inside our country we’re guessing the warheads will. We pinpointed possible locations around the Middle East. Four in Afghanistan, six in Syria, and two in Iraq. Several units of Special Operations Joint Task Force including British SAS, US Seal Team Six and Delta Force are enroute to those locations as we speak.”
“Nothing left for us, Sir?” Hunter Two said.
“Given we don’t have any eyes on the transport of those warheads suggests something big is hiding these transactions from us. Langley’s best bet, the country who hates us as much as Al Bashir does. The Islamic Republic of Iran.”
“Didn’t know our job includes taking on a whole country,” Hunter Four said.
“If needed be, you will,” said Overlord.
16 hours later - 20,000 ft somewhere above Persian Gulf – 04:26
“We’re now in Iranian airspace, gentleman,” Hunter One said, “Remember the briefing. Avoid contacts as much as you can. We’re all we got down there.”
The C-130 crew signals it’s time to jump. The four recon units huddled by the ramp as it opens. There’s a red light by the ramp. The four waited for a while. Green light turns on. The hunters jumped down.
Somewhere in Southern Iran – 04:43
“We’re only two klicks away,” Hunter One said, “Stay sharp but do not engage. Our camo will hide us.”
“Hunter this is Overlord,” said Overlord by the radio, “Be advised, a large number of hostiles with technicals are inbound the target area ETA twenty minutes.”
“We’ll be there in fifteen, over and out,” Hunter one replied, “Let’s pick up the pace, hunters.”
Target Area – 04:58
“We’re here,” Hunter Four said.
They noticed a huge number of military personnel around the area.
“We won’t wait for the technicals,” Hunter One said, “Let’s split up. Rojas, with me. Alex, Happy, go to the east side. Rally point in five mikes to exfil. Let’s go.”
“Copy,” said the three.
Upon splitting up, Alex and Happy encountered a lone patrolman.
“Drop him,” Happy said.
“Copy,” Alex shot the patrolman. He catches him while he drops down.
“No time to hide the body. Let’s move,” Happy said.
Meanwhile, Lead and Rojas entered a bunker. They easily sneak past through a guard by activating their adaptive camouflage.
“We're almost invisible in their peripherals,” said Rojas.
“Almost so stay low,” Lead said.
The bunker is larger than they expected. Other than the guard outside there seems to be no one in.
“Deploy sensors,” Lead ordered.
“Deploying sensors,” Rojas tossed a sensor. Upon activating they didn’t see anyone inside, “We’re clear.”
The two checks around the bunker. They saw several huge rectangular crates with Arabic characters printed.
“Could this be it?” Rojas said as he opens one of the crates, “Let’s see.”
They both see what appears to be two nuclear warheads.
“WMDs,” said Lead, “Place charges now.”
As Lead is placing C4 charges Rojas scans the other crates and other papers around.
“Sir,” said Rojas with concern, “This might not be it.”
Lead stopped and turned to Rojas, “What do you mean?”
“I can read Arabic, these have nothing to do with the Russians or Al Bashir,” Rojas sounded very confident on what he’s saying, “This might just be their own nuclear weapons cache.”
Lead continues on what he’s doing, “Charges set in ten mikes.”
Rojas feels uneasy, “This is not right, Sir. We’re starting a war.”
Lead faced him with a serious face, “We’ll not try to win the war, Rojas. We’re here to stop it.”
“You knew it all along,” Rojas snapped as if he knew what is going on, “It was a bluff. Al Bashir, he doesn’t have any capabilities to attack multiple targets at once. But Langley, they don’t see it as that.”
“Do what you have to do, soldier. I’m not saying that again,” Lead said.
Alex and Happy discovered an underground facility. They stealthily dropped every enemy personnel they encountered as they reached what appears to be the launch sites for the nuclear weapons. Alex opened a double door room and saw huge rectangular crates just like Rojas and Lead discovered.
“I wonder how Langley knew about this place,” Happy said.
“Is this it, Sir?” Alex asked.
“This might not be it but I’m betting this isn’t the numbers they’re saying they only have.”
“What do you mean, Sir?”
“I’m saying we blow this all up.”
“Then this will-”
“Start a war,” there’s a little uneasiness that Happy is starting to feel.
“Hunter Four and Hunter Three, this is Hunter One,” they heard Lead by the radio.
Back in the two Rojas stared at Lead waiting to say his orders on the other two.
Lead took a deep breath before continuing, “Do not place charges. I repeat do not place charges. We’re negative on Al Bashir's. Over.”
“Sir?” Rojas said with a relief.
Lead sighed, “I hope you’re right about this.”
The two deactivated and recovered the charges.
“We’re not going out of here empty handed,” said Lead over the radio, “Collect any intel you see. Take pictures of the WMDs. Over.”
“We got helluva lot intel down here,” said Happy over the radio, “We’ve just discovered their launch site. Over.”
Just as the convoy Overlord is talking about arrived, the four are gone.
Kuwaiti Airspace – aboard USAF Black Hawk – 05:32
“Wouldn’t the bodies we left there lead to war?” Happy asked.
“They won’t say a word if they don’t want the whole world to discover what they’re hiding there,” Lead said.
“You think Langley would get disappointed to us?” Rojas asked.
“We won’t give a damn about the CIA and what they’re playing,” Lead replied.
“Hell yeah!” exclaimed Happy.
“For a second there I thought I lost you, Sir,” Rojas told Lead.
All four laughed as the helicopter lands.
Miami – Day Four of the Break – 10:40
After the quick deployment during the supposedly break, Alex went back to his home.
“The Paris attack, now considered as the most deadly attack by the terrorist group Al Mudamir, took the lives of thirty two people including children and injured fifty others,” the newscaster said, “Despite Al Bashir's threats of attacking other countries, no other attacks occurred at that same day up to now. Meanwhile, the Russian Leader Vladimir Maksim condemned the attacks of Al Mudamir on Paris saying this is an act of cowardness.”
Dorothy heard the doorbell rang. She got up from her seat and head for the door, “Coming!”
Upon opening the door she saw Alex with his huge backpack, “I can’t believe I had to bring these things again,” Alex said.
“I told you you’d be back in a day, honey,” said Dorothy while she’s trying to get Alex's bag.
“No mom I can handle this,” said Alex.
“How’s work?”
“I’m home mom. That’s the important thing,” Alex said as he heads to his room upstairs.
“Well, you can’t blame me if I’m worried, Son. Oh, and you should thank your girlfriend,” upon hearing what his mom said he almost forgot about Sammy.
“My what? I – I mean why?” Alex stopped at the stairs.
“You should go check your room,” Dorothy said while smiling. Alex opened his door and saw his room neat and clean, “Although I didn’t see her clean your room, I’d doubt you’d do it.”
“Right,” Alex placed his bag on his bed and went back downstairs.
“You see what she did there?” Dorothy said, “That’s a room Alex. I can’t believe you can’t do it.”
“I can, Mom. I just won’t.”
“Don’t say that like you’re proud of it. You know when I saw your room like that? I feel ashamed on the girl.”
“Enough of that Mom. I know I’m a mess,” said Alex while scratching his head, “Did she tell you something?” after asking that he immediately realized something, “No, it’s obvious she don’t,” he murmured. He heads for the front door.
“Going out so soon?” Dorothy asked.
“I’m just-”
“Oh, she did told me something,” Dorothy snapped. She suddenly remembered something.
“She what?” Alex said confused.
“She told me she’s going to DC. She didn’t tell me why but I guess you know about that. When you speak with her tell her I said hi.”
“Look at what you did,” Alex murmured.
Moments later someone called Alex. He immediately picked up, “Alex,” he heard the voice of Happy, “You’re home?”
“Oh, Happy. I mean, Sir. Yes I am.”
“You sound like you’re expecting to hear someone else. I just called to remind you not to turn your phone off again. The situation’s still hot, we might get another call.”
“Copy, Sir.”
Alex went on the beach and did his usual hangout routine.
The White House - Washington DC – 11:01
“What did I tell you about this, Samantha?” Said Simon, “You have to understand the situation. It’s not safe especially right now,” he calmly said to his daughter.
“But did something happen to me, Dad?”
“I don’t take chances, Samantha. The next time you do this I swear I wouldn’t allow you to leave this-”
“No you won’t do that, Dad,” Samantha angrily said.
Simon took a deep breath, “I fired your last bodyguards. I’m giving you new ones. If they lose you again like the last time I won’t think twice on firing them. If you don’t want to think about your own safety, maybe think about someone who’s gonna lose their job because of you.”
Samantha walks away.
“Mr. President,” someone approached Simon, “The CIA wants to talk to you about something.”
“Direct them to my phone at the office,” Simon said, “I thought we’re done talking about Al Mudamir.”
“It’s not about that, Sir.”
“What’s more important than that then?” Simon had his serious face.
Meanwhile Samantha gets in her car.
“Where to, ma’am?” asked her driver.
“Airport.”
“I’m not sure I’m allowed to-”
“Then get off my car,” Samantha said in frustration as she got off and head for the driver’s door. Her driver gets out.
“You’re getting me fired for this, ma’am,” her driver said.
As she started the engine she looks at her driver and slides down her window, “I’m sorry, Bill, really,” she sounded concerned, “You’re good at cooking. You’ll get a decent job in some nice restaurant out there,” before she drove away she added, “Don’t hate me for this,” she smiled with a little concern in her eyes.
“They won’t let you out here, ma’am!” Bill shouted as she went meters away, “Oh, I’m so fired.”
At the gate the two guards are about to stop Samantha. She drove past them and shouted, “I’m sorry!” while making an eye contact with one of them. She breaks the boom gate and drove away. The two guards looked at each other before radioing in what just happened.
At the office the President is talking on the phone, “What do you mean they should’ve?” he asked in confusion. He listened for the reply and nods, “Then I want to talk to this unit. Or what do you call them? They might have some reasonable-” he was being cut off by the person on the line. He listened for a bit before he speaks again, “But I want to hear it from them.”
“Sir,” someone barged in his office, “Your daughter, she drove away without her driver or bodyguards. I already sent our men after her.”
Simon looked stressed out, “What? No. Let her. I don’t want this going on the media. But follow her. Use choppers but don’t go near her.”
“Copy that, Mr. President,” the guy rushes out and radioed in, “All ground units fall back. I repeat, all ground units fall back,” he approached another guy and ordered, “Get the helo up and running we need an eye on her.”
“Roger, Sir,” the guy responded.
Meanwhile, Samantha noticed she’s not being followed. She sighed, “Oh great, Sammy, what now?” she asked herself.
Miami Beach – 11:17
Alex went to a makeshift bar by the beach. The bartender looks at him waiting for his order.
“You have any soda here?” he asked.
“Is this your first time here?” the bartender asked as she opens one of her coolers.
“No.”
“No, I mean buying here?”
“Yes.”
“You’re not much of a talker are you?” the bartender grins. Alex looked at what she’s reaching for. He saw some can of soda but she picked up a can of beer and placed it in front of him, “You seem to be very problematic, young man. I prefer this.”
Alex moves the beer away from him, “I prefer being a problematic sober, lady. Soda or I’m not paying.”
“You don’t have to, cause it’s on the house,” the bartender smiled. Alex looks at her in the eyes blankly. He doesn’t seem to accept the free beer. The lady got tired of him so she handed him a can of soda.
Alex grabs it and pays up, “Well, this is why I always bring my own drinks,” he walks away.
“Who doesn’t accept a free beer?” the bartender said to herself.
A customer who saw what happened answered, “Clearly, that guy,” he laughed, “By the way, is this still free?” He pointed at the beer Alex left. The bartender nodded in disappointment.
As Alex is having a walk and enjoying his soda, he felt his phone vibrate. He picks it up his pocket and answered the call, “Who’s this?”
“Seriously you don’t save my number?” Happy replied.
“Oh, Sir. Is there a problem again?”
“Lead told me the White House wanted to talk to us. I think it’s about the last op. Fly to DC tomorrow. I’m already packing my things up. I might fly early. They said they prepared a hotel for us. Free dinner, Alex!”
The first thing that came to Alex’s mind upon hearing where they’re going is Sammy.
“Alex? Alex, you still there?”
“Oh, uhh. Yes sir, copy that.”
“Oh and uhm, pack you bags as if we’re going on another deployment. Just to be sure.”
“Oh great,” Alex sighed.
