The cave is dark and damp, and the path Will and Sarah take is tortuous. However, they eventually reach a vast underground chamber, where they encounter a strange and fascinating group of people.
These near-immortal beings are unlike anything Will has seen before. They are tall and slender, with glowing, luminous skin. Their eyes glow with a strange light, and they seem to emanate a powerful aura.
Sarah approaches the immortals and begins speaking to them in a language that Will doesn't recognize. After a few moments, she turns to Will and explains, "They're from an ancient race called the Sacred. 'We' humans call them immortals, but they're just really, really tough. They can be killed, but its lifespan is several hundred years."
The immortals turn to Will, and he can feel the intensity of their eyes on him. Sarah continues: "Will, you are part of the Sacred race. You are different from humans. You can live for many years, and your stamina is much greater than that of humans."
Will looks at Sarah uncertainly. "I don't understand. Why didn't I know about this before?"Sarah sighs. "Because most Sacred live in isolated communities, away from humans. Your family was different. They mixed with humans, and you were raised as one of them. They were trying to keep you safe."
Will looks at the immortals again. "What now? What happens now?"
Sarah smiles. "Now you know who you are. And we can start to find out more about our race."
