Sarah and Will finally make it to a new town, after several weeks of running and hiding in the shadows. They approach cautiously, but something feels different this time: the city seems strangely receptive to their presence.
People look at them with curiosity, but without hostility. Some even offer to help, bringing Sarah and Will food and water. This is a relief for them, as they are exhausted and hungry after so much time on the road.
"That's weird," says Will, looking around suspiciously. "After so many hostile cities, this one is being almost too friendly."
"Yes, I know," Sarah responds, nodding. "But we cannot let our guard down. We must remain alert and prepared for whatever may happen."
While they rest in the city, Sarah decides to explore a little further to find out if there is any reason behind the people's unusual behavior. She returns a few hours later with surprising news.
"I discovered something interesting," says Sarah, seriously. "This city is ruled by a race of beings like us. They are helping us because they know about our situation and they want to protect us."
"That's amazing," replies Will, surprised. "Really?! How can we find them?"
"We find 'em!"
Sarah and Will decide they need to find out more about this new race of beings ruling the city before meeting up with them. They split up to ask people about the whereabouts of members of this race.
As Sarah makes her way around town, she finds an antique shop, owned by a mysterious old man. She goes in and starts looking through the curios for sale.
The old man approaches her and asks: "Can I help you with something?"
"Yes please," replies Sarah. "I'm looking for information about a race of near-immortal beings that live in this city. Do you know anything about them?"
The old man looks at her curiously and says, "You mean the rulers of this city? They are an ancient and powerful race, but very secretive and protective of their privacy. Few people know of their existence."
"I know," says Sarah, with determination. "But we need to talk to them, it's important to us. Can you tell me where I can find them?"
The old man sighs and looks out the window before replying, "Well, I don't know exactly where they gather. But I can give you a hint. You should follow the river that runs through town until you reach a hidden cave. they often meet. But be careful, they are very protective of their privacy and don't like unexpected visits."
Sarah thanks the old man and leaves the shop, determined to find the cave. As she walks, she runs into Will, who looks excited.
"I found some information," says Will, smiling. "There is a group of near-immortal beings who live in a mansion in the hills of the city. It seems that they are also protective of their privacy, but I hear that they are very friendly with those they consider friends."
"Interesting," says Sarah thoughtfully. "This information is conflicting with mine, but at least we have two leads to follow. Let's check the cave first, as it's easier to find."
They set off in search of the hidden cavern, knowing that the next part of their journey could be perilous, but also knowing that they must find their equals and discover more about their true nature and destiny.
Night begins to fall as Sarah and Will walk towards the cave. The atmosphere is tense and they walk in silence for a while, both lost in their own thoughts.
Finally, Sarah breaks the silence. "Will, I'm so sorry I dumped all this information on you. I didn't want your life to turn into this all of a sudden. But I had no choice, I had to tell you."
"I know, Sarah," Will replies, placing a hand on her shoulder. "And I'm glad you told me. I can't say I believe all of this, but I feel like there's something true about it. And I want to find out what it is."
Sarah smiles at him gratefully. "I knew you'd be brave enough to face it all. And I'm glad we're doing this together."
Will looks at her, realizing how important Sarah has become to him in such a short time. "I don't know what will happen after all this, but I know I don't want to do this alone. And you're the only person I know who can help me."
Sarah feels her heart warm at his words. "I promise, Will, I won't let you face this alone. I'll be here for you no matter what."
They continue to walk in silence for a while, but now the tension has been replaced by a sense of closeness. They've known each other for a short time, but they've been through a lot together.
Finally, they arrive at the cave and cautiously enter, ready to face whatever is inside. They have no idea what to expect, but they know they are together and that gives them the courage to move forward.
As they make their way through the cave, Will and Sarah feel the tension build. The darkness is total and the silence is broken only by the sound of your footsteps. Suddenly, a strange sound echoes throughout the cavern. Will and Sarah freeze, afraid that the hunters have found them. They are silent for a moment, but hear no more. Will whispers to Sarah, "What was that?" But she doesn't know how to respond. They continue to advance, but are now even more alert, waiting for the next sign of danger.
